On Saturday evenings this summer, Spataro Restaurant & Bar will give couples and groups the opportunity to appreciate both good food and good company. Buon Appetito will feature a $25 3-Course family-style dining menu that will give diners not only the chance to embrace Spataro’s authentic Italian cuisine, but to enjoy the food in the traditional Italian way of a social, shared dining experience.
The Italian style of dining has always been an important aspect of Executive Chef Kurt Spataro’s own life, and he is excited to finally have the chance to share it with Spataro’s guests. Throughout Kurt’s childhood, he was taught about the importance of family… not only immediate family members, but cousins, uncles, grandparents and even great grandparents too. Kurt’s family came to America from a small village near the southern tip of Sicily. While his parents were away at work during his childhood, his grandparents and great grandparents spent time teaching Kurt about their Italian values and customs, particularly the ones related to food and wine. “Nearly every Sunday afternoon was spent at my grandparent’s house around the kitchen table. It’s a tradition I’ve carried forward. Although my grandparents are long passed, special occasions and often Sundays are spent in our kitchen and around the dining room table.” Kurt also explains that even though he always makes a big deal out of the food and wine, it’s really just about the importance of spending time together.
Each Saturday, Buon Appetito will feature a unique 3-Course menu. The menus will utilize local summer produce to create uncomplicated, Italian-inspired preparations served in a relaxed and casual style. Platters of food will arrive at the table for guests to share and serve themselves. Spataro’s extensive list of wines will be available to enjoy with your meal as well as additional wines by the carafe.
